The three-year Psychotherapy Course is given under the auspices of the Israel Psychoanalytic Institute. The purpose of the Course is to expand participants' theoretical knowledge and practical skills in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy. The course curriculum emphasizes the connection between the actual treatment on the one hand, and theoretical knowledge on development, on psychopathology and on treatment techniques, on the other.

The course is intended for professionals who practice psychotherapy and who are beginning their independent professional careers: psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and psychiatric social workers. Course instructors are psychoanalysts who are members of the Israel Psychoanalytic Society, with experience of teaching in academic and clinical settings.
